Student Demographics

  1. Navigate to Synergy SIS > Student > Student.

  2. Modify the fields as needed

The Demographics tab contains the student contact information. You can also complete the following tasks on this tab:

  • Update family addresses and contact information at one time.

  • Manually attach photos of the student to the record.

 

 

  • Home Language and Spoken to Student at Home – Language the family prefers to receive communication.

  • Nick Name and Last Name Goes By–Names the student prefers to use.

  • State ID – State student number

  • Birth Date, Birth Place, Birth Verification, Birth Certificate Num, Birth State, and Birth Country – Student's birth details

  • Email–The student's email address that Synergy SIS uses to send various notifications to the student. Click the icon next to Email to send an email to the student.

  • Ed-FiID– The student’s number displays if your school district is part of the Ed-Fi consortium.

  • Resolved Race / Ethnicity, Hispanic / Latino,Race–The student's race,ethnicity, and whether or not the student is Hispanic or Latino.

  • Map It!– A Google Maps screen displays with the student’s home address shown.The Mail Address can match the Home Address or you can enter a different mailing address. There is a separate Map It! button for the mailing address.

  • Validate address

    • A message box opens warning the user that the student may be outside the school’s area when the address information does not match any entered address information.

    • Synergy pulls the complete address information, GridCode, and School of Residence when the address information matches.

  • Schools – Opens a separate screen showing the schools assigned to the student’s home address if the district uses grid codes to assign students to schools based on their home address. Click Validate and Find to check the address.

  • School of Residence – Shows the school assigned to the student based on their home address and grade level. Synergy SIS indicates the Reason for Attendance at the other school and the Reason for Attendance Date if a student attends a school that is not their designated school based on their address.

  • PhoneNumbers – Displays all the student's phone numbers

    • Synergy SIS uses the phone number with Primary selected as the student’s primary contact number. Synergy SIS uses the first phone number listed as the primary if there is no primary phone number selected.

    • Select phone numbers used to contact the student in the Contact column. Select Not Listed so that staff is aware of the confidentiality of the number if the phone number is unlisted at the phone company.

    • The Phone and Text Communication Level columns display if Enable Phone/Text Communication Level option is selected on the District Setup screen.
