Creating a new parent Canvas account

This guide will instruct parents on how to create a new canvas account for observing students.

Instructions for Generating a Pairing Code

Utilize these steps to create a pairing code from the student’s Canvas account:

Have the student sign into Canvas from their chromebook.
Select Account from the top left.
Select Settings.

Click Account, then Settings
On the right-hand side, select Pair with Observer

Select Pair with Observer
It will now generate a pairing code that can be used to create a parent canvas account.

Pairing code will now display

The pairing code will expire in 7 days, or after one use.

Once the student has generated a pairing code, utilize these steps to create the parent account:

Navigate to the Canvas login screen.
Select Parent
At the top right select Parent of a Canvas User? Click Here For an Account
Enter the required information as well as the pairing code that was generated from the student’s account.
Select Start Participating to finish creating the account.
