How to create assignments

Assignments will need to be created in Google Classroom then sync’d to Synergy Gradebook using these step by step directions.

Note: Only Assignments and Quiz Assignments sync with Synergy Gradebook which are the only graded items in Google Classroom.

Step by Step Directions on Creating an Assignment

  1. Open Google Classroom and login using your school district account

  2. Open Google Class Card for the class you wish to create an assignment for

     

  3. Next click on the Classwork menu item then click the Create button

     

  4. Under the Create menu you will have the options of create an Assignment, Quiz Assignment, Question, Material, Re-Use Post, or Topic

    Reminder: Only Assignments and Quiz Assignments sync to Synergy. If the Kami extension is used Kami Assignments sync to Synergy as well

     

  5. In the Assignment creation screen add a title for assignment and brief instructions in the instructions field. (There is a 1000 character limit for instructions)

     

     

  6. If you wish to attach a Google file that you have already created you can do so using the Google Drive icon. Select the file you wish to attach and click the Insert button. You can also upload a file (PDF), Add Link, Insert YouTube video or Create a new Google Doc, Slide, Sheet, Drawing or Form




     

  7. After inserting the Google Doc you will have the following options

    Students can view file - Used for files that you don’t wish the students to edit only view
    Students can edit file - Used for shared collaborative type projects
    Make a copy for each student - This will make a copy for each student to edit and turn in

     

  8. Next on the right hand side of the assignment creation window you will need to set the points of the assignment, due date, select students if only for a few students and then assign or schedule the assignment

     

  9. Finally Click Assign, Schedule or Save Draft

    Assign - Assigns the assignment immediately to students and is viewable by students
    Schedule - Allows you to pick the date and time when the assignment opens
    Save Draft - Keeps assignment hidden from students until you assign the assignment
