(Moved) How to report a lost or damaged Chromebook

Problem

What to do when a students Chromebook is damaged or lost.

Solution

Damaged Chromebook

  1. Student reports damage to Depot Para

  2. Para will discuss with student how damage occurred

  3. Para will checkout a Repair Spare for student

  4. Dependent on warranty, the device will be sent to repair

    1. In house (out of warranty) / Vendor (in warranty)

  5. R3 will bill appropriately base on student insurance status

  6. Invoices are billed via My School Bucks (online)

  7. Depot Para emails student to pick up device asap.

Student's will receive notifications in their email from the repair technicians and depot para as the repair is processed.

Lost Chromebook

  1. Student will report lost / stolen device to Depot Para

  2. Para will help student determine when / where it could be

  3. A Repair Spare will be checked out to the student

  4. Para will send building-wide email containing the following:

    1. Full student name

    2. Device SCASD Asset Tag

    3. Last known whereabouts

  5. Student is given one week to locate - otherwise we bill for replacement

  6. When the device can not be found and the student has paid the Premium Insurance a Police Report will need to be generated with the following information in an email to the building resource officer explaining the situation:

    • Student Name, address and phone#

    • CB SCASD# make, model, serial# and value of computer

    • Grade and Date of birth

  7. When you receive the police report number from the building resource officer you can issue the student a replacement chromebook. 

  8. Please be sure to include the Police Report Number on both the invoice and support ticket for future reference.
