This guide will provide basic information for Students/Families that are new to using a Chromebook

 Instructions

1. Charging the device

   1. The power cord is 2 separate pieces. Make sure the cord is securely connected to the brick. When plugged into the left side or right side successfully, the light next to the port will turn on to indicate charging.

2. Turning on the device

   1. When the device is opened, it should turn on automatically. If not, you can press the power button on the right side of the device, and the screen should light up and go to the login screen

3. Cleaning Tips

   1. You can clean the outside and keyboard of the device with a Lusol wipe, then dry it with a dry cloth, as too much moisture can damage the inside of the device.

   2. To clean the screen, spray a cloth with a small amount of Windex and wipe down the screen, then dry it with a dry cloth, as too much moisture can damage the inside of the screen.

4. Logging in to Chromebook

   1. Grades K-2

      1. When the device turns on, it will prompt the student to log in with Classlink using their Classlink badge. Click the “Log in using [QR Code]” option, then hold it up to the camera as shown below, and it should ding and then take you to the desktop.

   2. Grades 3-12

      1. On the "Sign in to your Chromebook" screen, enter the SCASD Email address, and press next. Then, enter the password for the account, and it should take you to the desktop.
