How to fix AutoDesk licensing error

Problem

Autodesk software won't open and errors out with licensing error.  Autodesk License Server Services won't start.  Affects all Autodesk 2020 products.

Solution

Autodesk Licensing Data File Removal

  1. Open C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\AdskLicensingService Folder

  2. Delete the AdskLicensingService.data file

     

Start Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service

  1. Click the Start menu, type services.msc and hit Enter key

  2. In the Name column of the Services console window, find the Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service

  3. Right-click on the service name and select Properties.

  4. In the Properties dialog, use the drop-down menu to change Startup Type to Automatic (Delayed Start).

  5. Click Apply, Start and OK
