Transferring a Student's Grade for the Entire Marking Period

Transfering a grade from another class for a student into your gradebook is done in Synergy.  This tip sheet is intended for when the student entered your class at a marking period break, and you need to have a grade for one or more entire marking periods.  If the student transferred midway through a marking period, please refer to this other handout as the process is different.

Preparation: You will need to know the grade(s) that the student earned in the other class, along with the clarification if the grade has been or needs to be adjusted for a level change (e.g., AP/ / Advanced to CP / regular). Instructions

  1. Open up the Synergy gradebook and click on the blue + button in the bottom right corner and choose Assignment.

  2. BEFORE entering an information, click on the green ✔ PUBLISHED To Google button in the upper right so that it turns red and reads NOT PUBLISHED To Google.

  3. Complete the information for the assignment:

  4.  Click on the Scores tab and click to check the boxes under the Excuse and Hide in Portal tab for the first student listed.  Then click on the green down arrows next to each of those columns to ‘fill’ down the excused and hidden for all students.   If you don’t see the green ‘fill down’ arrows, please see this tip for making that feature visible.

  5. Click to uncheck both boxes under the Excused and Hide to Portal columns for only the student that needs this transfer grade.

  6. Enter the student’s grade for the marking period in the blue column.

  7. Close out the assignment by clicking on the X once the green circle appears in the upper right corner.

NOTE:  If the student enters your class:

  • AFTER Marking Period 1, enter a grade for MP1;

  • AFTER Marking Period 2, enter a grades for MP1 and MP2;

  • AFTER Marking Period 3, enter a grade for MP1, MP2 and MP3.
