How to Add a Home Printer to Your Chromebook
Students can easily connect their Chromebook to a home printer to print homework, projects, or permission slips. Chromebooks support most modern printers that connect via Wi-Fi or USB.
📡 Option 1: Add a Wireless Printer
Best for printers connected to home Wi-Fi
✅ Steps:
Turn on your printer and connect it to your home Wi-Fi.
Use the printer’s built-in screen or setup app.
Refer to your printer’s manual if needed.
On your Chromebook, click the time in the bottom-right corner.
Click the gear icon ⚙️ to open Settings.
Scroll down and click Advanced → Print and Scan → Printers.
Under Available printers to save, find your printer and click Save.
🧠 Tip: If your printer doesn’t show up, make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
🔌 Option 2: Add a USB Printer
Best for older printers without Wi-Fi
✅ Steps:
Plug your printer’s USB cable into your Chromebook.
A notification will appear—click Add Printer.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.
