How to Reset Accessibility Options on a Chromebook

♿ If your Chromebook screen looks zoomed in, colors are inverted, or it's talking to you unexpectedly, chances are an accessibility feature was turned on by accident. Here's how to quickly reset those settings back to default.

🔄 Quick Reset Using Keyboard Shortcut

This shortcut disables most accessibility features instantly:

✅ Press:

Ctrl + Shift + Refresh (⟳ key above the 3 or 4 key)

This will:

  • Turn off Docked Magnifier and Full-Screen Magnifier

  • Reset Display orientation to normal

  • Disable High Contrast Mode

  • Restore Default screen brightness

  • Turn off Spoken feedback (ChromeVox)

🧠 Tip: You may need to press the shortcut 2–3 times if multiple features are active.

🛠️ Manual Reset via Settings

If the shortcut doesn’t resolve everything, you can manually turn off accessibility features:

✅ Steps:

  1. Click the time in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

  2. Click the gear icon ⚙️ to open Settings.

  3. In the left sidebar, select Accessibility.

  4. Review and toggle off any of the following:

    • ChromeVox (spoken feedback)

    • Magnification (Docked or Full-Screen)

    • High Contrast Mode

    • Sticky Keys

    • On-screen keyboard

    • Large mouse cursor

    • Mono audio

🔒 These settings are user-specific. If multiple users share the device, make sure you're adjusting the correct profile.
