PowerSchool Parent Portal Guide for Parents & Guardians

    • Welcome to the PowerSchool Parent Portal! This guide will help you log in, recover your credentials, navigate the portal, and understand your student’s schedule.

    🔐 Logging In

    To access the portal, go to:
    👉 https://scasd.powerschool.com/public

    For Parents & Guardians:

    Use the Parent Sign-In section to enter your Username and Password.

    If you’ve forgotten your credentials, click “Forgot Username or Password?” to recover them.

    🔄 Forgot Username or Password?

    Click the “Forgot Username or Password?” link on the login page.

    You’ll see two tabs:

    • Forgot Username?

    • Forgot Password?

    If you’ve forgotten both, start with recovering your username, then reset your password.

    🆕 First-Time Access

    If this is your first time logging in:

    1. Click “Forgot Username or Password?”

    2. Use the Forgot Password? tab.

    3. Enter the district-provided username (emailed to you) and the email address you provided to the school.

    4. Click Enter.

    You’ll receive an email titled “PowerSchool Password Reset Request” with a link to create your password. Once completed, you’ll be logged in automatically.

    🧭 Navigating the Portal

    Depending on your student’s grade level, not all options may appear in the sidebar.

    Common Features:

    • Grades and Attendance: View current grades, attendance, and coursework.

    • My Schedule: See your student’s schedule in various formats.

    • Transportation: Bus route details.

    • Grade History: Current and past report cards.

    • Test Scores: District/state test results (PSSA, Keystones, MAP).

    • Forms: Sign electronic documents (handbook, device agreement, etc.).

    • School Info: School address and contact info.

    • Account: Update your email, username, or password.

    • Locker Info: Locker number and combination.

    • Balance: MySchoolBucks balance.

    • Teacher Comments: Notes from teachers.

    👨‍👩‍👧 Switching Between Students

    If you have multiple children in the district, switch between them by clicking their names above the navigation sidebar.

    📅 Reading Your Student’s Schedule

    There are three views available:

    1. Current Year

    Courses listed by period and day (1–6, A/B).

    2. Matrix

    Daily schedule shown in rows by day (6-day cycle for middle school, A/B for high school).

    3. Weekly

    Displays the current week’s schedule by period.

    🏫 Schedule Details by Grade Level

    Elementary

    Schedules show enrolled courses but not daily timing. Teachers will provide a detailed daily schedule.

    Middle School

    • Operates on a 6-day cycle and semi-block schedule.

    • Block classes span two periods (e.g., P1–P2).

    • Periods 7–9 are single-period classes.

    • Example: Period 7 may include Study Hall (Days 1 & 3), PE (Days 2 & 5), Orchestra (Day 4), Health (Day 6).

    High School

    • Uses a block schedule with an A/B cycle.

    • Lunch occurs during periods 5, 6, or 7.

    • Period 6 lunch is a split block (class before and after lunch).

    • Lunch period may differ on A and B days.

    ⚙️ Account Preferences

    Parents/guardians can update their account details:

    • Email: Type a new address in the Account Email box.

    • Username: Click the ✏️ icon next to your current username.

    • Password: Click the ✏️ icon next to your password field.

    Once you begin editing, click Save or Cancel at the bottom right.
