IT Services Welcome Back to School — 2025–2026

(Originally sent out Aug 20, 2025)

Dear SCASD Team,

We hope you had a restorative and joyful summer! As we gear up for another exciting school year, the IT Services department is thrilled to share updates, new initiatives, and important reminders to help you start strong. Whether you're returning or joining us for the first time, welcome to a community that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and care.

🧠 New Technologies & Initiatives

Here’s what’s new across the district this summer:

  • 📚 Schoology Rollout Schoology is now available, and all secondary classes are currently rostered! While use is not mandatory this year, we highly recommend exploring its features and integrating it into your workflow. Next school year, Schoology will become our required learning management system, so now’s a great time to get familiar.

  • 🚨 Raptor Alert Expansion Raptor Alert continues to roll out across the district. Schools will begin using it for drills, and all employees can access it on their district devices or personal cell phones (optional). It functions as a panic button and includes Team Assist for quick communication during emergencies.

  • 📲 Raptor Kiosk Updates By the end of September, all Raptor Kiosks will be located in school vestibules. New signage with step-by-step visuals will guide visitors through the check-in process. We’re also upgrading the kiosk stands to improve badge and ID scanning for a smoother experience.

  • 🆕 New Employee Badges By the end of September, all employees will receive new badges featuring a QR code. This will streamline check-ins at Raptor Kiosks when moving between buildings. 🔹 Reminder: You only need to check in at a Raptor Kiosk if you're entering a building that is not your home building.

  • 🎓 New Student Badges New student badges will be distributed to all students in grades 6–12 at the beginning of the school year. Students will check in each morning by scanning their badge when entering the building.

  • 📺 Newline Boards at Easterly Parkway Elementary Every classroom at Easterly Parkway is now equipped with Newline interactive boards. These boards offer intuitive touch functionality and seamless integration with your teaching tools. We’re excited to see how they enhance instruction and engagement!

  • 🍎 iPad Carts for Kindergarten at Easterly Parkway Kindergarten classrooms are piloting iPad carts to explore how iPads function in our learning environment. This initiative will help us evaluate future deployment strategies across grade levels.

🌐 Network & Security Updates

  • 📶 Corl Street & Spring Creek Elementary Upgrades Both schools have been upgraded to the SCASD-Enterprise network, offering enhanced security and performance. Guests can now connect to SCASD-Guest at these locations.

  • 📶 Outdoor Wi-Fi for Raptor Alert Drills To support safety drills using the Raptor Alert system, outdoor Wi-Fi is available now at the following locations: High School, MNMS, MNE, FT, and SCE. These designated areas will allow staff to stay connected during drills. We’re working to expand outdoor Wi-Fi access to all school sites by the start of school.

    • Outdoor Wi-Fi maps will be shared with everyone as soon as they’re finalized.

  • 🔄 Migration to JAMF We’re transitioning from Mosyle to JAMF for Apple device management. If your device hasn’t been migrated yet, please reach out to IT Services so we can assist you.
