ClassLink

IT Services is pleased to announce a new application called ClassLink. This application will allow our department to centralize our login options for district-supported applications and our data sharing to these resources for more timely updates. In addition, ClassLink will provide all staff, students, and parents with a “portal” that allows them one place to find district information and access district applications.

ClassLink will serve as a more robust improvement over our current solution, Clever, moving forward. ClassLink is more widely used and accepted by vendors and will work to provide us increased opportunities in the future.

Who does this affect me, and how?

This change will provide one central place for all staff, students, and parents to log in and access district applications and resources. Our initial focus will be to implement the internal facing components to solve some of the technology issues related to the recent Google changes. Then, we will work to release the new portal’s and migrate applications over to ClassLink.

When is ClassLink being implemented?

ClassLink will be launched in a rolling release approach. Initial implementation will focus on internal technology practices and then we will expand to portals and applications. We will migrate one application at a time and will continue to maintain Clever throughout the implementation to prevent any downtime in applications. As each application or phase of the ClassLink process is completed, we will send out follow up communications.

Why are we moving to ClassLink?

ClassLink is a safe, secure way for employees, students and parents to connect with district resources. It is a more robust replacement to Clever and will provide us with more opportunities moving forward. In addition, it helps resolve some difficulties that IT Services is experiencing related to recent Google security changes.

Will ClassLink host all Employee / Student resources currently found on the SCASD website?

Yes, Classlink Launchpad will be a central repository for all district resources found currently on the Employee, Student and Parent Resources page currently found on the district website.

What is the current release timeline?

  • ClassLink internal IT Services process = Now through November 2023

  • ClassLink Portals launched = November 2023. During this phase Clever will still be available and used.

  • Applications moved to ClassLink = November 2023 - July 2024

  • Clever decommissioned = July 2024

Will there be K-2 Badges to use on Chromebooks?

ClassLink will continue to provide a QR code login option for our K-2 students.

Will I lose my data in Clever / Clever apps once ClassLink is fully running?

No. Data will transfer from Clever to Classlink as we move an application. Custom teacher pages may need to be recreated if they were used in Clever for next year’s classes.

We appreciate your patience as we introduce this new solution and are excited to provide one solution to access all district resources and applications.
