How to use the SCASD Direct Print Queues

Any user with SCASD credentials can print to the SCASD Print Release System from any device that is connected to the SCASD network. This system allows users to print from any application on their connected device.

Instructions

SCASD print Release uses 2 queues, SCASD_BW_Direct and SCASD_Color_Direct. Below are the instructions for adding the appropriate queues to a device.

Color print jobs submitted to the SCASD_Color_Direct queue MUST be released at a Print Release station that has a Color printer.
They will NOT show up on copiers or Print Release station with just a BW Printer

  1. Navigate to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners

  2. Click the + icon under the Printers List

  3. The Add dialog is displayed. This dialog displays a list of all of the discovered printers on the network

  4. Select the SCASD_BW_Direct or SCASD_Color_Direct printer

  5. Check that Location is set to vx-Latte and that Use is set to Generic Post Script

    1. If Generic Post Script is not displayed:

      1. Close the Add dialog

      2. Disconnect from the network

      3. Reconnect to the network

      4. Try again

  6. Click Add

  7. When prompted enter the user's SCASD Username and Password

  1. Install the Mobility Print Chrome app

  2. Open the page to print

  3. If printing is available, right-click; then select Print

  4. Click Change to choose a printer

  5. Select the SCASD_BW_Mobility or SCASD_Color_Mobility

    1. Make sure the Mobility Print printer is selected as identified by the PaperCut icon 

  6. Login with Google window will popup for chromebooks to authenticate to with current user

  1. Download and run the Mobility Print Printer Setup (pc-mobility-print-printer-setup.exe)

  2. On the License Agreement screen, click Next

  3. Select the "scasd_print_release" printer; then click Next
    Enter the user's SCASD Username and Password; then click Next

  4. Click Finish

  5. When prompted enter the user's SCASD Username and Password

  1. Install the Mobility Print app from the Google Play Store

  2. Launch the app

  3. Tap Android settings

  4. Tap Mobility Print

  5. Tap the enable toggle

  6. Exit out of Settings

  7. Select the SCASD_BW_Mobility or SCASD_Color_Mobility

    1. Make sure the Mobility Print printer is selected as identified by the PaperCut icon 

  8. When prompted enter the user's SCASD Username and Password

  1. Print content as described in Use AirPrint to Print from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  2. Select the SCASD_BW_Direct or SCASD_Color_Direct printer

  3. When prompted enter the user's SCASD Username and Password
