How to fix Hold for Authentication error

Problem

When printing and a user receives an error identified as Hold for Authentication

While trying to print to the PaperCut system (SCASD_Print_Release or SCASD_Office_Printing), users may encounter a Hold for Authentication error. This error can be noticed from the following symptoms:

  • The printer queue bounces and has a yellow triangle

Examples of the Hold for Authentication error

Solution

The user will need to re-enter their password by clicking the refresh button in the job row

  1. Open the print queue by clicking on the bouncing printer icon

  2. Press the refresh button

  3. Re-enter SCASD credentials (District userid, not full email)

    1. After entering the correct credentials, the print job will go through
