Unable to Add Document to Print Job error

Problem

Users on Year 15 Mac machines may experience issues when sending a print job the SCASD print release system. This error can be noticed from the following symptoms:

Receiving a notification on the print queue that states: "Unable to Add Document to Print Job"

  • This error is typically experienced when trying to print a PDF through Chrome or a Google document

Print job taking a long time to render (ie send to the printer)

  • This error is typically experienced when trying to print a Microsoft Office document

Receiving a pop-up notification from the PC Client stating that the print job is over the 100 page maximum allowed on a building printer or copier

  • This error is typically experienced when trying to print multiple copies of a print job with the overall print job being less than 100 pages

Solution

The user will need to work with the building technician to resolve the issue.

  1. Verify OS on Mac machines

  2. If the OS is 10.10 or older:

    1. Update the OS to 10.11 or higher

    2. Verify that all updates are completed

    3. Remove the SCASD Print Release printer and re-add

  3. If the OS is 10.11 or newer, a ticket will need to be opened
