How to use Cellular Wifi Hotspot (Mifi)

This article serves as a jumpstart to get SCASD Mifi devices up and running for use at student homes. There are currently two models we offer and each will have its own area below on how to get users up and running with quick wireless service.

SCASD Mifi devices are ONLY to be used for course work

Models

MHS900L

Powering on

  1. The following is a picture of the Model MHS900L cellular wireless internet hotspot you may have received

  2. To power on the hotspot you will see a button on the bottom of the unit, press that button one time

Wifi name / Password

  1. You will need two pieces of information to use the wireless hotspot:

    •   SSID (WiFi Name) - This is the name of the wireless network

    •   Password -  This is the wifi password to log into the wireless network

  2. To see the SSID (WiFi Name) and wifi password - press the power twice for the SSID (WiFi Name)

    1. Then press once more for the password

Getting connected

  1. When you turn on your device, you will either be prompted to choose a wifi network or you will need to go to Network Settings

  2. Look for the network name that matches the SSID (WiFi Name) of the hotspot

  3. A box will box up which will prompt you for the password, enter the password provided by the Wifi hotspot

  4. The device should now connect to the wireless network created by the cellular Wifi hotspot and you will have internet access

8800L

Powering on

  1. The following is a picture of the Model 8800L cellular wireless internet hotspot you may have received.

  2. To power on the hotspot you will see a button on the top right of the unit, press and hold that button until it starts to power on.

Network name / Password

  1. You will need two pieces of information to use the wireless hotspot:

    •   SSID (WiFi Name) - This is the name of the wireless network

    •   Password -  This is the wifi password to log into the wireless network

  2. To see the SSID (WiFi Name) and wifi password - press the Wi-Fi Name/Password on the home screen

Getting connected
