Selecting Color or B/W

Problem

How to choose Black and White or Color printing using the SCASD Print Release system

Solution

Follow the steps outlined below based on application type of the print job

Printing any document in Black and White regardless of Color setting

Users can print a print job in black and white without paying attention to color settings by:

  1. Print the job to the SCASD Print Release printer without selecting a color setting

  2. Release the print job an any black and white printer or copier

Google Chrome

  1. Press the CMD+P buttons or click File > Print to open the print dialog box

  2. In the print dialog box, select B&W or Color in the drop down menu

Microsoft Word

  • This only needs to be done if the print job contains color and it can be printed as a black and white document.

  • If the print job does not contain color, print the document as normal

  1. Press the CMD+P buttons or click File > Print to open the print dialog box

  2. In the print dialog box, click the drop down menu in the bottom left-hand corner and select Open PDF in Preview

  3. The document will open in Preview

    1. Press print in the lower right-hand corner

    2. Check the "B & W" box

    3. Print the document

  4. Release the document on a print release station

All other Apps

Press the CMD+P buttons or click File > Print to open the print dialog box

  1. In the print dialog box, check the B & W box

  2. Print the document
