(Moved) How to Record on a Document Camera

There are multiple ways to record and save video on a document camera. Click the headings below to see each option.

Record Video

Before starting, make sure that the 'Epson Easy Interactive Tools' software is installed on the computer.

Download the software by clicking the Filewave kiosk icon at the top of the screen and selecting 'Install Software'

  1. Connect the white USB cable between the document camera and the laptop

  2. Open the 'Easy Interactive Tools' software

  3. Select 'Camera' from the list of options 

  4. When a message appears stating 'A camera has been disconnected or has not been connected', click on the pull-down menu on the lower left-hand corner of the window and select 'EPSON ELPCD21'

  5. Position the document under the camera and make light, position, zoom adjustments as needed

    1. Note: Turning the gray outer rim on the lens of the camera is an easy way to adjust the orientation of the projected image

  6. To start recording video, click on the red circle icon at the bottom of the screen.  It will prompt to select a name and location for the file.  Once those are selected, it will automatically begin recording

  7. To stop recording, click on the square icon  at the bottom of the screen

Still Image Capture/Screenshot

  1. In order to capture still images/screenshots from the document camera and save them to a computer, follow the same process as steps 1 through 5 from the 'RECORD VIDEO' guide

  2. Once the camera display window opens, take a still image/screenshot by clicking on the disk icon  at the bottom of the screen.  It will prompt for the name and location for the new image

  1. Connect the white USB cable between the document camera and the laptop

  2. Open QuickTime from Applications menu

  3. In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click File, then select your recording option. 
    Recording options:
    New Movie Recording: This is a recording using a selected camera
    New Audio Recording: This is a voice recording with no visual elements.
    New Screen Recording: This records your screen and your voice so you can narrate a presentation.

  4.  In the video window that appears, click on the down-arrow next to the red 'Record' button

  5. Select what camera and microphone you want to use for the recording.  Be sure to select 'EPSON ELPDC21' as the camera and 'Internal Microphone' as the Microphone

  6. Click the Record button (the large red dot) to begin recording

    1. When you wish to end the recording, click the Stop button (large gray square)

    2. Once the video has stopped recording, close the video using the red 'X' in the corner of the window

  7. When you close the window, it will prompt you to save or delete the file.  Save it in a location you can easily find it

  1. Connect the white USB cable between the document camera and the laptop

  2. When you are in a Zoom meeting, to select the document camera, click the arrow next to the 'Share Video' button

  3. In the dialog box that appears, click on the document camera and ensure a checkmark appears next to the correct camera

  4. In order to ensure the camera is working, click 'Start Video' and the icon will change to 'Stop Video' and the document camera image will appear on your screen. After clicking 'Start Video', the camera will be active and the icon will remove the red line

  5. To start recording video of the document camera image click the 'Record' button on the bottom center of the screen

  6. If you want to pause or stop the recording, click on the buttons labeled 'Pause/Stop Recording'

    When the recording session is finished and you want to save the video, you will need to end the meeting

  7. Once the meeting has ended, Zoom will automatically convert the video

  8. Once the video is converted, it will ask where you want to save the video.  Make sure you note the location where the video is being saved.
