In the event that a Chromebook is damaged and in need of repair, create a ticket with the following information. (Cosmetic damage, such as small cracks or damage that does not prevent the Chromebook from working, does not need to be repaired)

  1. Asset Tag - Included in the ticket summary along with a brief description (eg 22-1234 - Screen Broken)

  2. Student info - Name, email address, or student number. Add the student as reporter if possible.

  3. Issue to be repaired - The more info the better. Include any troubleshooting steps.

Once a ticket is created, determine if repairs would be under warranty. Chromebooks are under warranty for 3 years from their purchase date. (1 year for battery issues) All repairs not covered by warranty will need to be completed in-house.

Any Chromebooks submitted must be driven to PV on a weekly basis.

Repaired Chromebooks can be returned to the IT Services Warehouse at PV.

Student Responsible for Damage

If the student is responsible for damage to their Chromebook (eg. shattered screen, missing keys, water damage), parents/guardians will need to be notified.

  1. Building Techs will include the parent/guardian’s email as a participant.

  2. A customer reply is then included on the ticket, summarizing the extent of the damage and when IT Services was made aware.

  3. When repairs are complete and a MySchoolBucks invoice has been created, add a public comment detailing what was repaired, the cost of repairs, and the invoice number.
